Soft Landings Road to Rescue
Budgie was rescued from the Greenville County Animal Shelter in South Carolina in 2012. He was eight years old and heartworm positive, dumped in the shelter unwanted and unloved. He lived with Sandy Jones, our SC lead, for several months waiting for someone to adopt him. One day a wonderful woman in CT named Natalie Roy saw Budgie’s picture online. She fell in love with him and adopted him. Natalie and Sandy kept in contact, trading stories about Budgie’s new home and adventures. A dear friendship was formed through a shared love for animals. Together they decided to help more dogs like Budgie find loving homes and Soft Landings Road to Rescue was born. Budgie had a wonderful 3 years filled with much laughter, love, and happiness. On July 3, 2015 Budgie crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but remains in our hearts as Soft Landing’s hero and champion. The spirit of Budgie lives in each and every dog who finds their forever home, and his legacy of love continues on through them.

Soft Landings Road To Rescue is a small volunteer-based organization located in Lebanon, CT serving all of New England, lower NY state and northern NJ. We are licensed by the CT Department of Agriculture (#AIR 000259) and as such fully abide by all the rules and regulations for organizations facilitating animal adoptions. Soft Landings focuses on saving dogs from euthanization in high kill shelters and placing them in loving permanent homes. Our rescue network in South Carolina pulls dogs from the shelter and places them with one of our fosters where they are house trained, crate trained, leash trained and learn to get along well with other dogs, cats, and people. When we place a dog for adoption we are very familiar with the dog and know his/her temperament and health. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on all immunizations, have been heartworm tested, are wormed, and are on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
